Mother Humour
Internet access at home is rather limited, so sorry for not updating for such a long time. Anyway, my loyal readers (yes, all three of you), I'll just tell you what my mom did yesterday (my mom, whom I thought hadn't a sense of humour).
Katie was supposed to arrive yesterday at 805 pm, but her flight was delayed and my dad and I were at the airport waiting anxiously. The minutes ticked by and I amused myself by staring rudely at the "ang mohs" near us and wondering what they thought of Singapore! Suddenly my dad's mobile phone rang, throwing me into a frenzy and I quickly picked it up.
"Hello?"
This weird, cracked voice said in a strong Australian accent, "Hi! I'm here! I'm at Belt Thirty Seven!"
"Katie?" I was wondering what her flight had done to her to have made her voice sound so old and cracked. And I was wondering what a strange accent she had picked up!
Then my mother's voice said, "Ning, I found the EZ-link card lah. I'll leave it on the staircase ok?"
"Mom, did you hear that strange voice earlier? I thought it was Katie!"
"What voice? No, I didn't hear a voice..." my mother continued rambling.
"Mom, I really have to go, I think Katie's here..." and I ran up and down frantically looking for Belt 37. A few minutes later the phone rang again and my mother said, "That was me!"
"What?" I started laughing hysterically in the airport, causing my dad to stare at me.
"Yeahh... don't they tahlk like this?" my mom put on this terrible accent and that cracked voice. "Don't I sound British?"
"Oh pulease......" I hung up a moment later in exasperation and told my dad the whole story. "Your mom has a sense of humour. Didn't you know?" he said tolerantly.
And then Katie arrived, and we are going to have three weeks of fun : )
